Location & Nearby Attractions
Plenty to see and do for the whole family. Pembrokeshire hosts some of the most spectacular beaches in the UK – with one blue flag beach in particular just 10 minutes drive away – Whitesands <3
Restaurants & Pubs
There is a decent local pub in the village called the Ship Inn. Paul the owner, is also the property manager for us here so you will likely get to see his cheery face! They offer fantastic wood fired pizzas, beer on tap and plenty for the kids.
If you want the best fish and chips in the area – head to The Shed Bistro in Porthgain – we would recommend the monkfish!
Finally if your after some wonderfully fresh lobster and crab, head up the hill from Porthgain Harbour and look for the blue house on the hill!
Keeping the Kids Happy
Folly farm is absolutely brilliant for the family – we love it. It offers a huge indoor play centre, massive animal park, multiple outdoor play zones, a funfair and additional paid activities – try your luck on the kids go karts!
Oakwood Themepark is looking a little tired these days, but still plenty of memories still to be had.
One fantastic trip that comes to mind is the boat trips out to Skomer Island to see the puffins on the cliff tops! You can also normally catch seals giving birth around the beaches nearby.
Pembroke Castle is a good visit – plenty to see here and the village is well set up for tourism. If you want an expensive portion of chips you’ve come to the right place!
Plenty to do around Pembrokeshire; Coasteering, Surfing, Rock Climbing. Best to look at the Pembrokeshire council website for inspiration.
You can white water tube along the river Teifi, or how about wild swimming in the Blue Lagoon?
Biking & Hiking
It has to be the one and only Pembrokeshire footpath. We are situated less than half a mile from the footpath here in Trefin – you can walk in either direction comfortably in one day.
The Ship Inn does fantastic takeaway frsh pizza.
Saffron in St David’s is the best local Indian.
Kebab – Look in Fishguard, they deliver here.
For us nothing beats Whitesands Bay – Daisy has been coming here since she just started walking. Beautiful beach, decent surf, easy nearby walk and well supported by a decent beach cafe. It’s a blue flag beach so not suitable with a dog in summer months.
Newgale – not as pretty, but well known as the best beach for surfing. Parts of this are dog friendly all year round.

For those who like a faster pace of life, you can get stuck in to activities such as sky diving, zip lining, mountain biking and rock climbing.
With some of the best swells in the UK, Pembrokeshire offers great surfing spots for all skill levels. Most of the best beaches also provide tuition and all the kit you need to get going.
What a fantastic place for our extended family to base ourselves for a hastily arranged trip to Pembrokeshire.
Great Airbnb! Had everything we needed for a large group, more than enough space for us all! Loved the central courtyard and the walks, pubs and attractions in the local area made for a great holiday!
Frank, Lower Swanwick
A great location in a friendly village with immediate access to coastal walks and sea. A perfect few days away. The house itself is well equipped with good communal spaces and little nooks away from the croud.
Daisy was such an incredible host who kept in contact with updates regularly before our visit. The house was fantastic for all the family – especially the little toy room for my 2 year old nephew. We honestly had the best stay and couldnt have asked for more.
Beautiful accomodation in a beautiful part of the world. Fantastic hosts who were very responsive and helpful. The house is stunning, such great areas for my very large family to enjoy. Our favourite spots were the epic cinema room and courtyard – perfect for a sunny BBQ. We will be back!
Plus many more happy guests…
